About Unsurfaced
Every weekday, thousands of security stories cross the web. Most of them never reach the people who need to see them. A critical CVE buried in a vendor advisory. A breach notice posted on a Friday afternoon. A careful piece of investigative reporting published on a site that Google never quite figured out how to rank. Somewhere between the noise of press releases and the depth of mailing lists, the signal gets lost.
Unsurfaced exists to fix that. We are a curated portal for IT security news - vulnerabilities, breaches, malware, policy, cybercrime, and the work of the people who study all of it. Our job is to find the stories that matter and surface them clearly, without the noise. The value is in the filter.
How it works
We read broadly. Our editors monitor the security landscape every day: vendor advisories, independent researchers, academic papers, government bulletins, court filings, and the traditional security press. We are looking for the stories that have operational relevance - things a defender, a researcher, or a policy maker would actually want to know about before the end of the day.
What you get
Clearly scoped topic areas: Vulnerabilities, Breaches, Malware, Cloud & Infrastructure, AppSec, Identity, Privacy & Policy, Cybercrime, and Industry - and a chronological river within each. A minimalist reading experience that gets out of your way. No autoplay video, no modal popovers, no cookie walls to fight through, no AI slop in a disguise of journalism.
If we get something wrong, we correct it on the record. If a story is removed for legal reasons, we keep the URL live with a note explaining why.
What we don't do
We don't run advertorials, sponsored content, or press releases dressed up as news. We don't break embargoes. We don't run opinion columns. We don't sell or rent data about our readers.
We are a small operation, and we plan to stay that way. Small enough to be honest about what we do and don't know. Small enough to have a human on the other end of any correction request.
Who we are
Unsurfaced is run by a small team of security practitioners and editors who think the news cycle deserves better infrastructure. We don't accept pitches, but we do read every correction.
