Boost Your Cybersecurity: The Impact of a Company Name

Global cybercrime is projected to cost $10.5 trillion this year, which is approximately three times the $3 trillion estimated just a decade ago. Amid this alarming growth, Sarasota, Florida-based Tenex is calling on businesses to enhance their cybersecurity efforts by tenfold.

The name “Tenex” signifies 10X, or ten times something, as explained by CEO Eric Foster in an interview with Business Observer. Foster notes that the 10X concept has been prevalent for many years, particularly in the realm of software development. “We believe in the 10X,” he asserts. “The best individuals, especially in creative fields, are ten times better than the average, and we seek out those kinds of people.”

Tenex prominently features "10X Your Cybersecurity" on its homepage, aiming to assist customers in strengthening their defensive measures.

Since emerging from stealth mode in January, Tenex has surpassed $18 million in revenue and is targeting a remarkable goal of becoming a $100 million-plus enterprise in the upcoming fiscal year, according to Business Observer.

Among the industry giants in the South Florida region where Tenex is headquartered are billion-dollar cybersecurity companies such as Tampa-based ReliaQuest and Clearwater-based KnowBe4, both recognized as unicorns.

In a 2020 documentary by Cybercrime Magazine titled "KnowBe4: The Making of a Unicorn", founder and CEO Stu Sjouwerman remarked, “It’s the Google gospel they don’t do anything unless they can 10X it,” reflecting on KnowBe4's impressive growth from $75,000 in annual sales in 2011 to $175 million in 2019. KnowBe4 was subsequently acquired by Vista Equity Partners for $4.6 billion in 2022.

Earlier this year, Cybercrime Magazine published its list of the 10 best cybersecurity company names at the RSA Conference USA 2025 in San Francisco. The selection criteria included names that are easy to pronounce, remember, type, and that ideally have a matching dot com domain.

While Tenex meets all these criteria except for its dot ai domain ending, its strong 10X branding is likely to make Tenex.ai memorable. The company is AI-native, meaning it was developed using artificial intelligence, and its flagship product is a managed detection and response service that utilizes AI agents to identify and manage cyber threats, escalating issues to human operators when necessary.

The owners of Tenex.com, which focuses on flooring protection for residential and commercial needs, are likely benefiting from the buzz surrounding Tenex, as many people still instinctively type .com after every name.
